PVP - A Pipeline for Mental Health Support
Physicians face an often crushing load and morally dehumanizing system in the process of providing care to their patients. This membership benefit program was created to serve Idaho's physicians and other medically licensed professionals. Members of the following participating organizations may request appointments by clicking on the link above.
Eligible members may utilize up to five (5) sessions per twelve-month period (starting with the first appointment and renewing 12 months later.)
Family members may attend counseling sessions with members, but the client of record is the member and must be present.
- Ada County Medical Society (ACMS) eligible members include physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners; residents, active or retired.
- Idaho Academy of Family Practitioners (IAFP) eligible members include active or retired physicians and medical residents.
- Idaho Medical Association (IMA) - all licensed members
- MIEC (Medical Insurance Exchange of California) - all Idaho based physician members
- Currently, IMA Member medical students are not qualified for PVP unless it is a critical need and they cannot get in to their school provided/contracted counselor.
Family members may attend counseling sessions with members, but the client of record is the member and must be present.
Testimonials
Until COVID, I hadn't really realized how much of a barrier it was for me to make a physical appointment, but the reality of arranging for childcare, finding space in your day to drive to, be present for and then drive home from a live appointment was often overwhelming and during pandemic time- impossible. Having access to phone and virtual mental health appointments through the physician vitality program has honestly been a game changer." |
I utilized this service initially back in 2018, about a year after having my second child, and not long after settling into my first attending job as a pediatrician. I found myself overwhelmed by work and the elusive work-life balance. After the pandemic, I again found myself in a place where I felt that professional guidance would be helpful. Your website made it easy to find a counselor who was familiar with physicians and provided me with amazing therapy. |
"This program effectively removes a great deal of barriers for physicians to access the counseling they need. I think it's one of the best uses of resources to improve the well being of our docs in the community. This is a great resource!"
