The Physician Vitality Program (PVP) provides confidential mental health and coaching services to Idaho physicians and advanced practice providers.
- Psychotherapy is available to licensed members of the Idaho Medical Association and the Idaho Academy of Family Physicians. Retired physicians of IMA and Lifetime members of IAFP are also eligible; medical students may be served in critical situations, but their first line of help should be provided through their medical school.
- Coaching is available only to Ada County Medical Society members, but does not include retirees or medical students.
- Appointments for both services are limited to a pool of five per year, however a member wishes to use them.
ConfidentialityOur mental health providers (MHPs) are sensitive to keeping your personal and professional reputation intact. Your participation in this program is completely voluntary and confidential and may not be mandated as a condition of employment. The only person besides yourself who knows you utilized the program is the MHP (aside from their internal staff): no one from the medical society, employer, Board of Medicine/Nursing will be notified of your name if you choose to participate.

CompetentContracted mental health providers undergo screening for program compatibility by PVP Committee members including physicians, behavioral health professionals, and the PVP Director. While their licensure credentials are regularly verified, additional certifications such as EMDR are not. Members should exercise their own discretion when choosing a provider, as PVP cannot assure the suitability of providers for specific issues.
ConvenientAppointments are available via telehealth and in-person at a variety of times and locations. To make an appointment:
