Idaho's Health Professionals Recovery Program (HPRP)
Formerly called the PRN (Physicians Recovery Network / Program for Recovering Nurses)
Idaho Department of Professional Licensing (IDOPL) operates the Health Professionals recovery Program. It is a confidential, non-coercive, and non-punitive alternative to formal disciplinary action offered by IDOPL's various licensing boards, including the Board of Medicine and Board of Nursing. The program facilitates prevention, identification, intervention, and rehabilitation for Idaho physicians, physician assistants and Nurse Practitioners (as well as pharmacists, dentists, veterinarians, et al) who have, or are at risk for developing disorders, which are associated with functional impairment, or suffering from chemical abuse or dependency, mental health issues, or behavioral problems. HPRP works in a manner consistent with the laws and medical and Nursing practice acts of the State of Idaho to provide a safe environment in a medical setting. IDOPL contracts with Boise-based Southworth Associates to provide this service.
